Hilton Honors har ændret deres betingelser på 2 vigtige områder

Den 1. august 2018 ændrede Hilton Honors deres betingelser på to vigtige områder. Den ene er værelsesopgraderinger og den anden er de såkaldte resort fees.

Den første ændring med værelsesopgraderingerne er kun for Hilton Honors Diamant medlemmerne. Det er en ændring i ordlyden, som betyder at du ikke længere er sikker på at hotellet skal finde dig en værelsesopgradering. Ordlyden er ændret fra “will” til “may“. Det kan være en storm i et glas vand, men det er en vigtig fordel i Hilton Honors programmet at du har været sikret et værelsesopgradering. For mange er det en sikker “value for money” ting at kunne bestille de billigste værelser og så forsat ville være sikker på at de fik en opgradering grundet din status. Med den nye ordlyd er dette ikke længere et krav.

Virkeligheden er så også at det forsat kun er hvis der er et værelse frit. Men forskellen er forsat at hotellet ikke længere skal tilbyde dig en værelsesopgradering. Så vi er lidt spændte på at se om det reelt ændrer noget i praksis.

Før den 1. august så betingelserne sådan ud:

At Waldorf Astoria® Hotels & Resorts, Conrad® Hotels & Resorts, Canopy™ by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Curio – A Collection by Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton™ and Tapestry Collection by Hilton™ properties, Diamond Hilton Honors Members will receive upgrades to preferred rooms, based on availability at the time of arrival (excludes Napua Tower at Grand Wailea and Imperial Floor at Rome Cavalieri). Upgrades for Diamond Hilton Honors Members may include upgrades up to “junior”, “standard” or “one-bedroom” suites. Upgrades may also be rooms with desirable views, corner rooms, rooms on high floors, rooms with special amenities or rooms on Executive Floors Upgrades. Upgrades exclude executive suites, villas and specialty accommodations (which may include, but not limited to, “Vista” and “Villa” accommodation types), subject to the discretion of the hotel. Group reservations and certain rates are not eligible for suite accommodations and may not be eligible for complimentary upgrades. All upgrades are granted on a space-available basis for the entire stay, as determined at the time of arrival. Preferred rooms are identified by each individual property and may vary within each brand. Upgrades will be given only for one room for the member, regardless of additional rooms the member may have purchased at or after the time of booking. The following brands do not offer complimentary upgrades: Embassy Suites™, Hilton Garden Inn®, Hampton by Hilton™, Tru by Hilton™, Homewood Suites by Hilton®, Home2 Suites by Hilton®, and Hilton Grand Vacations®.

Efter den 1. august så betingelserne sådan ud:

Diamond Elite Members will receive the following during stays as a registered Diamond Elite Member: At Waldorf Astoria® Hotels & Resorts, Conrad® Hotels & Resorts, Canopy™ by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Curio – A Collection by Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton™ and Tapestry Collection by Hilton™ properties, Diamond Hilton Honors Members may receive upgrades to preferred rooms, based on availability at the time of arrival. Upgrades for Diamond Hilton Honors Members may include upgrades up to “junior”, “standard” or “one-bedroom” suites. Upgrades exclude executive suites, villas and specialty accommodations/floors/towers (which may include, but not limited to, “Vista,” “Villa,” or “Club” accommodation types), subject to the discretion of the hotel. Group reservations and certain rates are not eligible for suite accommodations and may not be eligible for complimentary upgrades. All upgrades are granted on a space-available basis for the entire stay, as determined at the time of arrival. Ingen resort fees på bonusnætter

Den anden ænring er at det er blevet bekræftet at der ikke er resort fees på blandt andet bonusnætter. Dette er en klar positiv ændring.

På flere og flere hoteller er resort fees blevet en ekstra omkostning og nu gøres det klart at der ikke skal være nogen tvivl om at der ikke opkræves resort fees i sådanne tilfælde. Ordlyden i betingelserne er:

At hotels with resort fees, members on reward stays booked using all Points, or using a Promotional free night reward (e.g., issued by credit card partners, etc.) will not pay resort fees.

På hoteller i for eksempel Las Vegas eller Florida, så kan resort fees let være mellem 25-35 US dollars per nat. Så på en lille uges ferie kan det let være mange penge sparet.
